The Metropolitan Foundation - Official Website

The Metropolitan Foundation is an independent, section 21 company in the process of applying for s 18 A tax status.

Our vision is to be a strong, driven and committed Foundation that seeks to effect real change and impact in the fight against HIV AIDS. We aim to become the shining example of how a South African non-profit organisation can set the international benchmark in efficiency, corporate governance, self-sustainability and integrity.

Our mission is focused: to create a Summer for All by 2025. This goal is based on the Live the Future scenarios created in 2006 that use a set of four possible futures for South Africa (each linked to one of the four seasons) in order to help explain and predict the impact of HIV AIDS on our country. Derived from robust actuarial models, each scenario presents a better picture as the seasons move from Winter to Summer. Our mission is to intervene in society where needed, and in so doing help create a Summer for All.

Our aim is to achieve a Summer for All by closely following our mandate and foundation principles, in essence, the soul our Foundation:

Everything we do must effect direct behavioural change among private citizens, civil society, the public service and corporate entities; even if at first it's a minor change
We must impact peoples lives at both a grassroots and policy-making level
We undertake to maintain transparent and clear reporting to all our stakeholders and interested parties
We undertake to ensure strict corporate governance and ethical behaviour towards all our partners, stakeholders, beneficiaries and employees

Each of these attributes are key to our success and are the factors against which we, and the broader public, holds ourselves accountable. We are confident that by following this ethos and by effectively pursuing our and our partners' projects, we will achieve a Summer for All in 2025
